From 26 September to 4 October 2026, Limassol Municipality is organising the Wine Festival in Limassol Public Garden from 19.00 until midnight every evening. This year, we are celebrating the 64-year history of the Wine Festival with spectacular opening and closing ceremonies at the ‘Marios Tokas’ and an enhanced programme featuring popular performances, with dozens of artists, bands and groups from Cyprus and Greece entertaining the crowds every evening. During the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to visit and enjoy the open-air restaurants, which will feature distinctive folk music at affordable prices whilst maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene. Wineries will be selling bottled wine at special prices and will be holding wine-tasting sessions from 20.00 to 21.00. Photography and cartoon exhibitions, as well as talks on wine production, will enrich this year’s Wine Festival. The Public Garden will be artistically illuminated and theatrically decorated. Children have their own area at the Wine Festival. Come and make your own ‘Vrakas’ craft just as you imagine him. You can make ‘Vraka’ on wooden figures and as magnets. Joining us is Vrakas the stilt-walker. There will be shadow theatre performances, a pottery workshop, and the magic created by the wonderful magicians will fill the air. This year, the Wine Festival is expanding to include the wine-producing villages of our region. Two events will take place on the first and last Sundays. Visitors will have the chance to experience the genuine hospitality of our villages with traditional songs, dances, wine, local delicacies, palouze and siousiouko. Tickets are on sale throughout the festival at each of the three entrances. Upon entering the festival through the main entrance, to the south, visitors can see the giant figure of a Cypriot winegrower in traditional local dress. Vrakas has remained the emblem of the Wine Festival since 1961.

An event dedicated to tradition, with the main theme being, the local Commandaria wine and the preparation of authentic “palouzes” and “sousioukos”, – the famous Cyprus traditional desserts, made of vine crapes juice, known as “moustos. Prepared as is customary in the mountainous wine villages of the Limassol district. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch and take part in the traditional process of making the Commandaria wine and Ppalouzes and dipping of sousioukos. Also, will be treated with plenty of fresh made, ppalouzes and enjoy live traditional and Greek music and dances. For our little visitors there will be entertainment station with crafts and painting, also there will be a fairytale narration. Kids can also enjoy donkey rides through the streets of the village. There will be a market with many types of traditional food and drinks for sale (Cοmmandaria , ppalouzes, sousioukos, kiofterka, pastelli, homemade bread, variety of nuts, Cyprus sweets & jams & Zivania are some of the products you can find. Visitors may rest at the Café-neio near the Church enjoying hot or refreshing drinks and other snacks. During the event, the following places will be open to visitors. Open Sports Festival 2026 runs for the sixth consecutive year and is the largest corporate sports festival in Cyprus. It features 18 sports and activities and brings together more than 60 organisations. Entry is free for spectators, families and children. New games for 2026: rugby and chess This year the programme opens up in two directions it has never tried before. Rugby joins the main-day programme for the first time on 24 October 2026, in cooperation with the Cyprus Rugby Federation. Few sports show so clearly what a team is: the ball only travels backwards, so to move forward someone else has to run for you. The match format has been adapted so that teams with no prior experience can play, with coaching from the Federation on the day. A week earlier, on 17 October 2026, the Open Sports Festival Chess Tournament by Alber Blanc takes place at City of Dreams Mediterranean. Chess brings an entirely different kind of intensity to the festival: no shouting, no whistle, just the clock and the next move. The tournament is open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced players. Six years, 60+ companies, 2,500+ people Open Sports Festival began as a single day of matches between companies. Six years on, it is one of the few places in Cyprus where teams from Forex, IT, financial services, shipping, marketing, hospitality and energy meet outside the office. After several years of reviewing Optimist sailing events worldwide, the changes in sailing and the rapid transition to a technological race that has somehow relegated sailors and coaches to secondary status, Famagusta Nautical Club and the organizers of Regatta of Champions – The R.O.C. cooperated and organized for three consecutive years the pioneer for the sport of Sailing, the Championship of Champions. Regatta of Champions – The R.O.C., is the result of a four-year effort that finally reached the implementation phase in 2022. A form of event that had never been done before, worldwide, that can be held anywhere in the world, in any country and in any category, using the sponsors and standards of the organizers. Scheduled again this year on 08 – 15 of November and using the same pattern, the top 45 Optimists from around the world are invited to The R.O.C. Applying a selection formula, based on difficulty of events, invitations are sent to the top sailors of the World Championships, as well as all Continental Championships (European, North & South America, Asia and Oceania, and Africa). At least 20% of invitations will be for the other gender. If a Continental Championship is not completed before the R.O.C., invitations are sent to eligible sailors from the same continent, the previous year. All invitations are given, in person and/or through the National Federations and addressed to specific sailors. If the invited sailors are unable to participate in the event, then the invitation is transferred to the next ranked sailor. In addition, there are 19 Wild Cards for sailors to claim during 2025. One Wild Card will always go to the National Champion of the country or the top athlete of the Club hosting the event. 10 Wild Cards are given to the top 10 sailors of our subsidiary worldwide event, The R.O.C. Cyprus Swim Series is an international series of competitive open water swimming. The event will take place in Pissouri (3rd edition) on the 13th to 15th of November 2026, at Pissouri Beach, just in front of Columbia Beach Resort. Cyprus Swim Series is comprised of a 8km super endurance individual race, a 8km relay race, a 5km endurance race, a 3km challenge race, a 2km fins race, a 1,25km juniors race and a 0,5km kids race. The event attracts people from all around Europe and locals. Junior races are aged from 13 to 17 years old; Kids races are aged from 8 to 12 years old; the other distances are categorized in groups like: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50+. All distances have different award ceremonies for men and women. 8km individual and relay races have no age categories. 8km relay race can be done in 2 persons of 4km each or 4 person of 2 km each. Pre race gathering is also part of the event, where lines referees and FINA referees explain the race course, talk about safety, fair play and answer questions that participants might have.
